Marvel Madness: Sif Visits ‘SHIELD’, ‘Agent Carter’ Preps for Pilot


It’s was a big weekend for fans of Marvel Studios’ cinematic and television works, as two major news bits have been dropped, namely an Asgardian-level cameo by Lady Sif set for ABC’s Agents of SHIELD, as well as some major movement on a future series based around Agent Peggy Carter of Captain America fame.

Lady Sif Heads to Agents of SHIELD

During a press tour, Marvel and ABC announced that the Thor and Thor 2 character Lady Sif, played by Jamie Alexander, will be appearing in the 15th episode of Agents of SHIELD this season. ABC Entertainment Group president Paul Lee stated “we’re shooting it now. Jamie Alexander is there,” and that the cameo will be “absolutely integral to that hour of television.”

Also during the press tour, Lee admitted that SHIELD‘s fall in ratings is disappointing, but Marvel and ABC still have high hopes for the series. He said “it took us a little bit of time to find our sea legs,” and that “creatively, we’re loving what we’re seeing for that night.”

Agent Carter TV Series Underway

Lee also announced that plans have been set into motion for a second series spinning out of the Marvel cinematic universe this time focusing on Agent Peggy Carter, who originally appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011. he revealed that the first script – written by Captain America scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely – is in, and it it “good.”

Hayley Atwell, the actress who originated the role of Carter, is reportedly attached to the project, and CW’s Reaper creators Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas have been brought on as showrunners.
