Puyo Puyo Tetris (Switch) [Review]

Crossovers are fun, right? The Flintsones have met The Jetsons, The Simpsons have met Family Guy‘s Griffins, Steven Universe has met Uncle Grandpa, and hey, Amalgam Comics was a thing, wasn’t it? There’s no better way to get people psyched about something than that something being two respected and well-loved brands smashing into each other. It’s why we get toys called Angry Birds Star Wars Jenga. That’s three brands– triple brand score! To get more to the point, the two biggest names in the puzzle game world have to be Tetris, the immortal block stacker, and Puyo Puyo, the classic blob juggler (which you may also recognize as the 16-bit era classics Kirby’s Avalanche and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine). Why not bring those two all time greats together into an explosion of falling object puzzling? It’s seemingly a no-brainer, but does Puyo Puyo and Tetris go together like peanut butter and jelly, or is it more like a orange juice and toothpaste style situation?

TETRIS Is Thirty Years Old Today! Why Not Play Some RIGHT HERE?

Original_TetrisThat’s right, Alexey Pajitnov’s block sorting and stacking classic, Tetris, hits the big three-oh today! That’s thirty years of shape flipping, block dropping, and slowly becoming increasingly aggravated that the game seems to be refusing to give you that one straight long piece you need! Tetris‘s easy to play difficult to master formula has made it a timeless game that’s just as enjoyable today as it was when it was born back in 1984. Why not celebrate the anniversary of one of the all time greats by playing a few rounds after the jump?

Ubisoft Is Promising the Ultimate Version of Tetris With TETRIS ULTIMATE

Tetris_Ultimate_Screenshot_v003

Ubisoft announced today that they are bringing Tetris to next-gen consoles (that aren’t named Wii U) and PC, with a new version they are calling Tetris Ultimate. The ultimate version of Tetris? Sounds like they are promising a lot. As far as I’m concerned, really the ultimate version of Tetris is one that’s portable, but that’s just me.

Friday Clip-Show: The OSU Marching Band Takes On Video Games [Video]

As a denizen of the great state of Ohio, I have known for years that the Ohio State University Marching Band  has the moniker of being “The Best Damn Band in the Land.” While I’ve never disputed this claim, the special halftime show they put on during the Oct. 6th game versus Nebraska absolutely blew me away. If you’re a fan of video game themes, both new and classic, a fan of marching bands, or anywhere in between, you gotta check this out!

Weekly Craft Geekery: 4/2/12

Hello! Sorry it has been a little while since I’ve done one of these. Some stuff has come up, you know the usual stuff, visiting family, not feeling good, blah, blah, blah. Well anyway, I found some pretty neat stuff today including a Matt Smith plushie, a tetris Necklace, Pikachu undies, a Tardis bag, Batgirl coasters, and a laser cut Piranha plant necklace!

This Dr. Who plushie is adorable. Don’t you want your own Matt Smith to cuddle and tell your stories to, or go on imaginary space and time adventures with? There is something very Adventure Time-y about the design. Speaking of Adventure Time, the same shop has really cute Adventure Time plushies too!  You can find this at telahmarie’s Shop, Heart Felt Design.

Check out my other picks after the jump!
